This attractive round neck, raglan sleeve, cardigan with button closing is a practical addition to any little girl’s wardrobe. It is out of the ordinary for the knitter to create. The two different pattern stitches are enhanced by the unusual construction. The back wraps around to each front to create an unexpected twist.

For your cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important.

It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

NEEDLES:

size 5 straight needles
size 3 straight needles for neckline
size E crochet hook

OTHER NOTIONS:

gauge ruler
5 double pointed needles size 5 or smaller to use in place of stitch holders
5 small safety pins
tapestry needle
6 buttons size ½ inch (12.5mm)

GAUGE:

26 stitches x 36 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on size 5 needles

SKILL LEVEL:

	Projects with a variety of stitches, such as basic cables and lace, simple intarsia, double-pointed needles and knitting in the round needle techniques, mid-level shaping and finishing.
