children's cardigan 11 - m and ms

This, interesting to knit, garter stitch, cardigan (hat pattern included) is shaped by a series of decreases that become the mitered corners. It is made in 2 pieces; each from center back to center front. I-cord buttons are knit with a contrasting color.

*Use yarn from your stash for the I-cord buttons The yarn should be colorfast and launder the same as the main yarn used for cardigan.

For your cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important.

It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

NEEDLES:

size 3 29-inch circular needles or size needle to obtain the correct gauge
size 1 10 inch straight needles
five size 3 double pointed needles for cap
two size 1 double pointed needles for I-cord

OTHER NOTIONS:

Gauge ruler
Tapestry needle

GAUGE:

28 stitches and 56 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch on size 3 needles

SKILL LEVEL:

	Projects with a variety of stitches, such as basic cables and lace, simple intarsia, double-pointed needles and knitting in the round needle techniques, mid-level shaping and finishing.
