An oversized cardigan with a southwest feel. It is worked in one piece (from right center front to left center front) until armholes. This method eliminates the need to match side seam stripes and weaving in yarn ends on the body. The yarn ends at the center fronts are knotted and tucked behind the sewn down facings. The only clean up of color changes is along the armholes. I wrote the pattern in two sizes Medium and Large. The difference in sizes is achieved by knitting the sweater in two different gauges on different size needles.

SKILL LEVELS FOR KNITTING

Beginner

Projects for first-time knitters using basic knit and purl stitches. Minimal shaping.

Easy

Projects using basic stitches, repetitive stitch patterns, simple color changes, and simple shaping and finishing.

Intermediate

Projects with a variety of stitches, such as basic cables and lace, simple intarsia, double-pointed needles and knitting in the round needle techniques, mid-level shaping and finishing.

Experienced

Projects using advanced techniques and stitches, such as short rows, fair isle, more intricate intarsia, cables, lace patterns and numerous color changes.

GAUGE: Size Medium - 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches on size 8 needles in stockinette stitch;

or needles to obtain the correct gauge

Size Large - 17 stitches and 23 rows = 4 inches on size 9 needles in stockinette stitch;

or needles to obtain the correct gauge

Large - size 7 and 9 circular needle 29 inch and size 7 and 9 straight needle
