women's cardigan 5 - lauren

woman_sweater_lauren

Lauren is a casual oversized cardigan with a shawl collar. The fronts and back are cast-on-as one piece, from center front to center front, and worked to the armholes. This eliminates the need to match side seam stripes and weaving in yarn ends at the side seams. The yarn ends at the center fronts are knotted and tucked behind the sewn down facing. The only clean-up is along the armholes and sleeve seams. I wrote the pattern in two sizes small/medium and medium/large. The difference sizes are achieved by knitting the sweater in two different gauges on different size needles. The clearly written pattern includes:

    ·    Schematic for each piece
    ·    A concise tracking/color stripe chart
    ·    Diagrams and full explanations for techniques
    ·    A link for substitute yarn
    ·    A pattern helpline

YARN USED FOR SAMPLE:
Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride
85% wool - 15% mohair
4 ounces-(113 grams)—190 yards-(173.5 m) each pull skein

Note: Other good choices of yarn for this cardigan would be one of the popular yarns used for afghans. Most afghan yarns come in gradations of each color. For the sample four shades each of greens, pinks, purples, and oranges were used.

The other colors used were: brown, red, black and aran = 20 colors
A (brown) 394 yards-(360 m) (3 skeins) Red 219 yards-(200 m) (2 skeins)
The remaining colors require from 41 yards to 94 yards-(37 m to 86 m)
Total skeins used for sample: 23

For your cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important.
