cowl 27 - barbara stanwyck

The soft and cozy Cowl is knit in the round on circular needles with a soft yarn, in a horizontal rib pattern that gives the illusion of pleats. It also works as a head cover-up. When knit in a bright color it is very flattering to the face on a cold wintery day.

SIZE:

Approximately 15 inches wide x 30 inch circumference

YARN USED FOR SAMPLE:

Zoal Yarn - Toki 80
80% angora - 20 % nylon
50 grams - 176 yards each
2 balls

For your cowl to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important.

It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

NEEDLES:

size 10 circular needle, 16 inches long; or size needles to obtain the correct gauge

OTHER NOTIONS:

gauge ruler
tapestry needle

GAUGE:

15 stitches x 22 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on size 10 needles
