A very easy purse to knit in individual pieces and sewn together (felting is very forgiving; (stitches are never seen after felting). Three flowers are knit and felted separately and sewn on after the purse is felted.

SIZE:
approximately 8.25" wide x 12" high x 3" deep after felting

SIZE VARIES DEPENDING ON INDIVIDUAL WASHING MACHINE,
WATER TEMPERATURE, AND YARN COLOR



YARN USED FOR SAMPLE:
Lamb's Pride Worsted Weight
85% wool - 15 % mohair
113 grams - 190 yards each pull skein
 
3 Skeins Bronze Patina M-175 Main Color (MC)
1 Skein Prairie Fire M-181 Contrasting Color (CCA)
1 Skein Sunburst Gold M-14 Contrasting Color (CCB)
1 Skein Aubergine M-185 Contrasting Color (CCC)
1 Skein Oregano M-113 Contrasting Color (CCD)
 
This pattern can be made with any yarn in the weight specified as long as the correct gauge can be obtained.
 
It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.



NEEDLES:
size 10.5 straight needles; or size needles to obtain the correct gauge



OTHER NOTIONS:
gauge ruler
tapestry needle
4 D Rings
1 Set of bamboo handles or purse handles of your choice
8.5" x 3" piece of heavy plastic, needlepoint canvas or cardboard for base (optional)
½ yard of fabric for optional lining
Small piece of fabric to cover base



GAUGE:
Before felting 3.75 Stitches and 5.5 Rows = 1 inch
After felting Approximately 5 Stitches and 10 Rows = 1 inch
 
 
Note: This is not an article of clothing and after all is said about how important gauge is who cares if your purse is slightly smaller or larger.
 
When felting the gauge does not have to be exact, but:
If your gauge is too tight the hat will not felt well
If your gauge is too loose you may run out of yarn
