purse 19 - chrysanthemum

It is hard to believe that a purse so simple to knit can be so pretty. It is knit in seed stitch using 2 strands of yarn held together. When knit with a yarn with some glitz it is the perfect cocktail party purse. Cording and a tassel add a finishing touch.

SIZE:

6.5 inches wide x 7.5 inches high

YARN USED FOR SAMPLE:

London - Sinflex
60% cupro - 40% metallized
50 grams - 165 yards

For your purse to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important.

It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

NEEDLES:

size 5 straight needles; or size needles to obtain the correct gauge

OTHER NOTIONS:

4.5 inch metal purse frame
½ yard cording
decorative tassel
optional: 1/2 yard of fabric for lining

GAUGE:

WITH 2 STRANDS OF YARN HELD TOGETHER
20 stitches and 40 rows = 4 inches in seed stitch using size 5 needles
