While walking in New York City I spotted a great looking man's sweater in a boutique. It was knit in bulky cashmere and was priced at approximately $1800 twenty years ago. Errol Flynn is my interpretation of the drop shoulder, turtle neck pullover with a very interesting cable pattern. I doubled 100% baby alpaca in a dk weight for a luxurious feel.

For your pullover to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important.

It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

NEEDLES:

size 6-(4mm) straight needles
size 9-(5.5mm) straight needles; or needles to obtain the correct gauge
cable needle
size 6-(4mm) circular needle, 16 inches-(40.5 cm) long

GAUGE:

USING TWO STRANDS OF YARN HELD TOGETHER
18 stitches and 22 rows = 4 inches (10 cm)
in stockinette stitch on size 9-(5.5 mm) needles
18 stitches and 25 rows = 4 inches (10 cm)
in seed stitch cable on size 9-(5.5 mm) needles—blocked

SKILL LEVEL:

	Projects with a variety of stitches, such as basic cables and lace, simple intarsia, double-pointed needles and knitting in the round needle techniques, mid-level shaping and finishing.
