From the front this is a classic girl's drop shoulder cardigan. From the back this cardigan is unique. Knitting the flaps and adding them to the back of the cardigan is very simple following the clear instructions.

Brown Sheep Company - Cotton Fine
80% Pima Cotton - 20% Merino Wool
50 grams - 222 yards each pull skein
3(4, 5) pull skeins
Contrasting Color Cotton for Xs
6(7, 8) mother of pearl buttons
Yarn markers
Hard copy of pattern with all three sizes
NEEDLES:
size 3 and size 5 straight needles; or size needles to obtain the correct gauge
size 3 and size 5 circular needles, 16 inches long if knitting the hat in the round
5 double pointed needles size 5 to use to hold shoulders and back neck edge and for crown of hat knit on circular needles
OTHER NOTIONS YOU WILL NEED:
gauge ruler
5 small safety pins for hat on circular needles only
tapestry needle
GAUGE:
24 stitches x 34 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on size 5 needles
