SIZES:

hat_measure_head

TO DETERMINE SIZE

Take a measuring tape and place it around the circumference of the head, slightly above the ears, with the tape held fairly closely to the head. Measure your head and then compare the measurement with the table below to find your size .

Finished hats are approximately 1" to 1.5" smaller than head circumference to allow for the stretch in knits.

For your hat to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important.

It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

250 yards are required for the largest size

NEEDLES:

size 7 circular needle, 16 inches long
size 7 double pointed needles

OTHER NOTIONS:

tapestry needle

GAUGE:

20 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches on size 7 needle in seed stitch; or size needle to obtain the correct gauge
