hat 1 - maria tallchief

This circularly knit hat starts with a stockinette stitch roll, then a 2 x 2 rib, stockinette stitch and the crown is knit in garter stitch. It is a very flattering hat. Pattern included for the optional knit flower and leaves or embellish as desired.

small amounts of any yarn for optional flowers

For your hat to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important.

It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

NEEDLES:

size 9 circular needle, 16 inches long
size 10 circular needle, 16 inches long
size 10 double pointed needles

OTHER NOTIONS:

gauge ruler
tapestry needle

GAUGE:

14 stitches and 20 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on size 10 needles

	Projects using basic stitches, repetitive stitch patterns, simple color changes, and simple shaping and finishing.
