The combination of two different types of yarn allows you to complete the covers before they go through the felting process
- A washable and dryable non-felting yarn, for the ribbed cuffs and the pompoms
- A yarn that felts for when machine washed in hot water with agitation for the heads.
- The cuffs knit with the washable yarn remain as stretchy as when knit.
The seam is invisibly woven together before the felting process.
The unique head covers are generously sized to fit your largest irons. You control the size by checking on them as they are in the felting process.

DESIGN DETAILS
- Most of us who has ever felted or knit have many bits of colors in our stash that can be felted. Use any combination of colors, even add novelty yarn to some of the squares, held together with the felting yarn. Each square uses 5 yards of felting yarn. The club head covers can be as different from each other as you would like them to be. If the cuffs and pompoms on all three club covers are the same, they become a a set. These colorful golf club covers will be noticed. I knit this set in 22 colors but any amount will work.
- Striking golf club covers, make it easier to identify your clubs on the course
- Thick felted texture for head protects the clubs from damage from the elements
- Add style to your bag

MEASUREMENTS
- One size fits most clubs. The finished size is controlled by how long and how many times you felt the club covers

YARN USED FOR SAMPLE

FOR CUFF AND POMPOM ONLY
Lambs Pride Worsted Superwash
100% superwash wool  -  must be machine washable and dryable
3.5 ounces-(100 grams) - 200-(183 m) yards each
2 pull skeins

FOR HEAD ONLY
Lamb's Pride Worsted—must be 100% wool or wool with a bit of mohair
85% wool - 15% mohair
4 ounces-(113 grams) - 190 yards-(174 m) each

AMOUNTS OF FELTING YARN REQUIRED DEPENDS ON HOW MANY COLORS ARE TO BE USED.
There are 3 golf club covers, each has 24 color squares a total of 72 squares. I used 22 different colors (repeating 2 colors on each cover). You can use as many colors as you wish.

Pick a color for your cuff and pompom (SUPERWASH).

Each square requires approximately 5 yards-(4.5 m) (.14 ounces-(4 grams) of felting yarn.
The exception is the felting yarn that matches, as closely as possible, to the cuff color (the superwash wool). You will need approximately 65 yards (42 grams) of that color for:
a. the first two rows at the start of the head for a smooth transition from the cuff to the head
b. at least one square on the top row of each head, plus one square somewhere else in each head = six squares that tie the design together by matching the cuff and pompom.
c. the top five decreasing rows to shape the top of head
Note: Some wool yarns that are bleached (usually white or a very pale color) will not felt, as the bleaching process damages the fibers. You can experiment with your gauge. I have personally never had this problem.

For your golf club covers to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE. The gauge does not have to be as precise as a clothing article. It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.
