This is a very sweet infant cardigan with a little square of open work on the front. The edges are trimmed in a crochet picot stitch.The cardigan has a back asymmetrical opening with 2 buttons at the neck. Hat pattern is written for straight or circular needles. The easy to follow pattern includes:

YARN USED FOR SAMPLE:

80% Pima Cotton - 20% Merino Wool
50 grams - 222 yards each pull skein

For your cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important.

It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

NEEDLES:
size 2 straight needle
size 4 straight needles
size 4 circular needle 16 inches long for hat knit on circular needles only
one set of size 4 or smaller double pointed needles for hat knit on circular        needles and to use in place of stitch holders
       or size needles to obtain the correct gauge



NOTIONS:
gauge ruler
ring markers
tapestry needle
2 small buttons - 3/8 inch (11.5mm)



GAUGE:
25 stitches x 36 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on 4 needles in stockinette stitch
