This is an endearing, relaxed style, sweater to show off in. The American flag can either be knit in (intarsia) or worked after the sweater is completed (duplicate stitch). The neck, sleeve edges and lower edge are rolled.

For your pullover to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important.

It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

NEEDLES:

size 1 and size 3 straight needles or size needles to obtain the correct gauge
size 3 or smaller double pointed needles or 4 stitch holders

OTHER NOTIONS:

gauge ruler
tapestry needle

GAUGE:

28 stitches x 40 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on size 3 needles
