You will love cuddling up on a cold wintery evening in this afghan when knit with an extremely soft luxurious yarn. It looks great as a summer afghan when knit with a soft cotton or cotton/acrylic blend.
Easy to knit in a combination of a simple knit and purl stitches.

FINISHED SIZE:

50 inches wide x 64 inches long

YARN USED FOR SAMPLE:

Plymouth Yarns - Baby Alpaca Grande
100% baby alpaca
100 grams - 110 yards each skein

15 skeins without fringe (16 skeins with fringe)

For the afghan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important.

A soft to the touch yarn is recommended.

It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins to purchase.

Approximately 1650 yards are needled for this afghan without fringe and 1760 yards with fringe. Allow for more yarn if a longer afghan is desired.

NEEDLES:

size 11 circular needle; 29 to 40 inches long or size needles to obtain the correct gauge
large crochet (J or K) hook to pull fringes through

OTHER NOTIONS:

tapestry needle

GAUGE:

12 stitches and 17 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on size 11 needles
